ParticipantQuestion 1 – A Pearson’s correlation coefficient, r, of -0.904 indicates a strong negative correlation between social anxiety and study hours. It suggests that higher social anxiety is associated with fewer study hours and vice versa.
Question 2 – This association is statistically significant at the 0.01 level.
Question 3 – The chi-square value (3.651) is less than the critical value (4.579), which suggests that we’d have to fail to reject the null hypothesis. This means that attendance level is associated with whether a student passed. However, the data used produced cross tab outputs showing frequencies less than 5 in each cell and so the result may not be credible.
Question 4 – Since there is a strong negative correlation between social anxiety and study hours, I would likely prioritize this result in designing an academic intervention, although encouraging course attention is also important.

ParticipantI used both SPSS and R to do this activity. I personally prefer SPSS, but that might be because I have more experience with using SPSS and probably need more practice with R for it to grow on me. I also prefer SPSS’s output layout.
Answers:
1. The average perceived stress score among the students (M & F) is 26.3.
2. According to the t-test results, the male students slept slightly more hours (6.25 hrs) on average per night than female students (5.17 hrs).
3. There is a significant negative correlation at the 0.01 level between the perceived stress score and the hours of sleep per night indicating that students with higher perceived stress tend to sleep for fewer hours per night. -
