ParticipantThoughts on SPSS and R
1. If you are new to using SPSS, how do you feel about using the software after viewing the demo?
Having watched the demo, I feel more at ease using SPSS. It seems to be user friendly and very suitable to analyse data successfully.
2. Would you consider using R for your next research project?
Yes, I would utilize R for my future research study as it offers more flexibility and more sophisticated statistical features.
(Optional Activity 1) Exploring Stress and Sleep in Psychology Students
1. What is the average perceived stress score among the students?
The average perceived stress score from the survey data is 26.3. This means that, on average, students experienced a moderate level of stress based on the scale provided (0-40).
2. Did males or females sleep more on average?
Based on the data:
– Females averaged 5.17 hours of sleep per night.
– Males averaged 6.25 hours of sleep per night.
So, males slept more on average than females in this small sample.3. Is there a relationship between stress and sleep? What does the correlation suggest?
Yes, there seems to be a negative correlation between stress and sleep. This means that students with higher stress scores generally reported fewer hours of sleep. For example, a student with a PSS of 33 only for 4 hours of sleep, while a student with a PSS of 18 got 7 hours. The correlation suggests that the higher stress is associated with less sleep.
