Participant1. Which predictor had the strongest relationship with GPA?
– Regression analysis suggest that both stress and coping significantly predict GPA. Based on the table. Stress has a negative relationship with GPA (B= -0.040, Beta =-0.67, P<0.01) This means that as stress increases GPA tends to decrease
– Coping has a positive relationship with GPA (B =0.048, Beta = 0.501, P<0.001) This suggest that higher coping skills are associated with higher GPA. Since both predictors are statistically significant with p-values below 0.001, both factors play a meaningful role in determining GPA.
2. Did the hierarchical model significantly improve prediction?
– Yes, adding coping and social support does improve GPA prediction. You can see this from the increase in R square value 0.374 in model 1 (which only includes stress as the predictor to 0.647 in model 2, which added coping and social support.3. How well does stress and coping predict passing/failing?
– Stress and coping can predict pass or fail outcomes. The data had to be recoded into the same variables (Nominal /ordinal) to get independent variables. Stress had a negative impact, while coping can mitigate
4. Was coping a statistically significant mediator?
– Since stress does not significantly predict coping. The mediation effect may not hold. If the indirect pathway (stress –> coping –> GPA is weak, then coping may not be a strong mediator. Stress directly reduces GPA, while coping helps to improve GPA5. Did Social support moderate the effect of stress on GPA?
– It did help in some situations; however, it was not very significant
6. Were linear regression assumptions met?
– The points do not form a clear linear trend
– There is some curvature in the spread, which may indicate a nonlinear relationship
