ParticipantVery insightful and comprehensive video.
What are the “traditional scientific methods” referred to in the latter part of the video?
Psychology seems highly dependent on dynamic and volatile variables: people, emotions, thoughts, feeling, perception. While statistical methods may be used, psychology itself doesn’t come across as very tangible or fixed. Natural science has laws, does psychology? What makes psychology a science in comparison to pseudosciences which also (claim to) use experimental methods?
Robust methods are needed through hypothesis testing and data analysis, but is that adequate and sufficient, or just necessary?
Looking forward to hearing about weaknesses (and avoiding those weakness) in such methods and studies.
Thank you.
