Participant1. Which variable had the most variability?
By calculating the standard deviation of both social anxiety and GPA, I was able to find the variable with the most variability.
Standard deviation of Social Anxiety = 9.394
Standard deviation of GPA = 0.389
These findings show that Social Anxiety (9.394) has the most variability, since its standard deviation is much higher than GPA (0.389).2. What pattern (if any) can be observed between Social Anxiety and GPA?
Within the scatter plot created by R studio I saw a downward trend, showing that once Social Anxiety increases, we see one’s GPA would tend to decrease.
Hence, there is a negative relation between Social Anxiety and GPA. This means that if a student has low anxiety, then their GPA would be higher and vice versa if their Social Anxiety is higher then they tend to have a lower GPA.3. Are there any outliers in GPA or Social Anxiety scores?
No, from my observation there tend to be no outliers in GPA or Social Anxiety scores. All values fell within the expected range.4. Do GPA scores differ consistently across the year?
Yes. Throughout the academic years we see that there is a positive trend in GPA scores.
Year Average GPA Standard Deviation:
Year 1=3.07 0.35
Year 2=3.10 0.26
Year 3=3.43 0.38
Year 4=3.73 0.21The above results show an increased in GPA from year one to year four, showing that those in a higher year would perform better academically. Therefore, yes GPA scores would differ consistently across the years.
