Participant1. What are your thoughts on the video?
I found the video to be very informative. It clearly explained and highlighted the connection between psychology and science. More so, it really covered the steps of the scientific method and the empirical approach. Lastly, I especially liked the interactive quiz throughout the video. I found it to be engaging and it really helped reinforce what was being covered.2. Are you surprised that Psychology can be classed as a “science”?
Not really! It actually makes sense that psychology is considered a science once you really think about what science really is. Science is all about asking questions, observing, testing ideas, and using evidence to understand how things work. Psychology does the same thing, just with people instead of chemicals or planets. Psychologists study how we think, feel and behave. They use things like experiments and surveys to collect real data and find patterns. That means they’re not just guessing or going off of opinions. Instead, they’re using facts and the scientific methods, just like scientists in other fields. So, even though psychology deals with the mind and behaviours, it definitely earns its place as a science – more specifically, a social science.3. Are the steps outlined familiar to you?
Yes, the steps that were outlined were familiar to me. They were covered in my Methods of Social Research classes during my undergraduate programme in Psychology. -

ParticipantMy understanding of science has always been, anything that can be tested and proven is science. Therefore, I definetly saw psychology as a science.
The steps outline are very similar, coming from a public health background that is the general approach. Additionally, behaviour and behaviour change is at th heart of public health.
